Audition FAQ

Auditions for the 2015 season are now closed. If you are interested in auditioning for the 2016 show, here are answers to some frequently asked questions.

1. Who can audition?

Dancers age 6 and older who have at least one year of dance training. Please note: Dancers for the 2016 show must be age 6 by Sept. 1, 2016.

2. Where are auditions?

Hosanna Dance Studio, 1361 River Road, Eugene Oregon. Directions.

3. What should I wear to the auditions?

Dancers should arrive with hair and clothes appropriate for a typical ballet class: hair pulled away from the face and completely out of the way; tight fitting dance clothes in solid colors; dance shoes.

4. What should I bring to the auditions?

Dance attire (as listed above), completed audition forms (available for download here), and a parent or guardian who can represent you at the required parent meeting. Even dancers over the age of 18 must have a representative present for the parent meeting.

5. Do my parents need to stay at the auditions with me?

Yes. A mandatory parent meeting will be held while the auditions are in progress. A parent or guardian who can represent you must attend this meeting so that they can receive information about the show and ask questions.

6. Do I need to be enrolled at Hosanna Dance in order to audition?

No. All dancers who audition for the 2016 show must enroll in a dance class for the year before auditions (2015-16) as well as enroll for classes during the show year (2016-17), but that class does not have to be through Hosanna Dance.

7. Do I need to attend both audition nights?

No. It is only necessary to come to one night of auditions. If you meed more information about which night to attend, please see the next question.

8. Which audition night should I attend?

If you are a dancer age 6 through Level I, you should attend the first night of auditions.

If you are a dancer in Level II classes or above and wish to audition for a principle role, you should attend the second night of auditions.

If you attend a studio other than Hosanna Dance or if for any reason you are unsure of your dance level, please contact the Hosanna Performing Arts Foundation.

9. How long do the auditions last?

Unfortunately we can't predict how long the auditions will last, as it is dependent on how many dancers want to audition. All dancers should be prepared to stay as long as necessary, knowing that we will release dancers as soon as we can.

10. What is the participation fee?

In order to cover the costs of studio time, we charge a participation fee of $65.00 per dancer. In return, the dancers receive weeks of top-quality dance instruction that we believe far outweighs the cost.

11. When will audition results be posted?

The cast list is posted as soon as it is available... sometime within a few weeks after the auditions are completed, but sometimes longer. A lot of thought and prayer is put into the decisions. We will do our best to get the cast list out as soon as possible.

12. Where will audition results be posted?

The cast list will be posted on the dancer page.

13. Where can I find information about rehearsal schedules?

All dancer and rehearsal information will be posted on the Dancer FAQ page as it becomes available.

14. What if I have more questions?

If you have any further questions, please contact the Hosanna Performing Arts Foundation.
